Description

The photo shows a cross-section through a young clover stem. The young clover stem has no lignified parts. The stem is still hollow inside and will fill with cells over time. Clover lives in symbiosis with bacteria, which enable it to obtain nitrogen from the air. There are around 300 species of clover, with different heights and flower colors, naturally occurring on all continents except Antarctica. Clover can grow in various conditions, including at high altitudes in mountains, and is a valuable source of food for livestock.
