Venus is the third brightest celestial body visible in the sky, after the Sun and the Moon, and is called the „Polar Star”. It is slightly smaller than the Earth and has a very dense atmosphere with CO2 (pressure like 1 km under water). The effect of such an atmosphere is a strong greenhouse effect, which heats the surface of the planet to 460 degrees C (Mercury, being closer to the Sun, has a temperature of -200 to 420 degrees C).
