Description

The presented photo is a cross-section of a Pelargonium stem - one of the most popular ornamental flowers in the world. This plant, belonging to the Geraniaceae family, comes from South Africa, but thanks to cultivators, we have many varieties that grow in other parts of the world as well. Pelargonium types differ in both leaves and flowers. Striped and border Pelargoniums have characteristic patterns on their leaves and flowers in various colors. Ivy-leaved Pelargoniums are characterized by leaves similar in shape to ivy leaves, and Large-flowered and English Pelargoniums have large flowers in different colors. Scented Pelargoniums are a group of Pelargoniums that produce aromatic oils, often used in perfumery.
