Chlamydophila pneumoniae (formerly known as Chlamydia pneumoniae) is a small bacterium (0.2-1 μm) transmitted through respiratory droplets, which can cause pneumonia and other respiratory tract infections. The bacterium has an interesting life cycle - it enters cells where it replicates, then exits with its offspring, searching for new cells to colonize.
