Uranus is the seventh planet from the Sun and the third largest gas giant in the Solar System. It has a unique orientation, as it rotates on its side with respect to its orbit, which means its poles are on the plane of its orbit. Uranus has an intense atmosphere composed mainly of hydrogen, helium, and methane, which gives it a bluish-green color. There are 27 known moons orbiting Uranus, most of which are small and poorly understood. Uranus also has a system of rings, but it is less impressive than those around Saturn. The study of Uranus helps to better understand the physics and evolution of gas giants in the solar system.
